Frequently Asked Questions
What will the planned DVD include?
We want to focus on helping non-Moravians understand who we
are and what it means to be a Moravian.
For the average person, that has more to do with feelings and
experience, with relationships than with history and footnotes.
Will there be a section on our history?
Yes, but it will be a separate segment viewable from the DVD
menu
Will our congregation be in the DVD?
The best way to guarantee that your congregation is in the
final cut is to provide us with well-shot video with clear audio of interesting
interviews. In other words, the more
effort and thought you put into your contribution, the more likely it is to be
in the final cut!
Will you use all submissions?
No. We anticipate receiving
submissions that do not meet our standards for quality or interview interest.
Are you interested in video from other parts of the world?
Yes! If you have
video of Moravian gatherings, especially worship, from other provinces, we would
be very interested in seeing it.
I’m worried about sending my only copy of my trip video
through the mail.
Please do NOT send the original of your mission trip video
or trip to Labrador to us! In any local
area, there will be a video shop that can make a digital “clone” of your DV
tape for a reasonable price. Please send
us the “clone,” not the original.
I have VHS footage of worship in Honduras/South
Africa/Labrador.
Please contact Rev John Jackman directly to discuss how to
submit such video. We will likely have a
local video shop make a DV copy of the original VHS.
What sort of international video are you most interested in?
Congregational singing and liturgy, individuals giving a
tour of important historic properties are likely to be more usable than footage
of sermons. Times of fellowship and closeups
of locals are also more likely to be used.
Can you use still photographs?
Yes, interesting and well-shot photos of smiling happy
faces, of interesting architectural details of your church, of memorable
stained glass windows would be welcome.
Digital formats are best. Please
do not send us your originals.
When will the DVD be released?
This process will likely take over a year, so the DVD should
be available in late 2010 or early 2011.
It will be made available to local congregations at a very reasonable
price so that it can easily be given away for outreach as well as education of
new members.
